About the League of Women Voters
The purposes of the League of Women Voters of Clackamas County are to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government and to act on selected governmental issues.
Our mission is :
- to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in government
- to increase understanding of major public policy issues
- to influence public policy through education and advocacy
What we do
We educate ourselves on all sides of an issue. We arrive at our positions through research, study, and a process of member agreement.
We inform our members through monthly publications, discussion groups, study groups, and action committees. We inform our citizens through candidate forums, ballot measure forums, and Voters' Guides.
The League takes action by testifying and lobbying. Most League-sponsored activities are open to the public and free of charge.
The League neither supports nor opposes any political party or candidate. The League advocates on issues that members have studied and on which it has consensus.
