Your Vote, Your Voice: Help Us Get Clackamas County Ready for November

Election Day is 43 days away, and right now, many of our neighbors in Clackamas County have not yet registered to vote. Some do not know the deadline is approaching. Others are not sure how to research a ballot measure or where to find honest information about a candidate. This is where the League steps in, and this fall, we need your help to do it.

 

The League of Women Voters of Clackamas County has several opportunities in the coming weeks for members and friends to help our neighbors register, learn about the candidates and measures, and make their voices heard on Election Day.

Table With Us at Clackamas Community College

Join us on Tuesday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clackamas Community College, where we will be tabling to provide voter education and registration assistance to students and staff. This is a wonderful chance to talk with young and new voters, answer questions about the process, and help people register before the deadline. Volunteers are needed for the full shift or any portion of it. Even one hour makes a difference.

Volunteers Needed: Voter Guide Delivery

We are also looking for volunteers to help deliver Voters' Pamphlets and Vote411 guides throughout the county. This is flexible, independent work that can often be done on your own schedule, and it ensures that accurate, nonpartisan information reaches voters where they live.

Volunteers Needed: Candidate Video Project

This fall we are launching a candidate education video project. Volunteers will reach out to local candidates with a short list of questions and collect brief video responses that we can share with voters online. No experience is required, and this project can be done entirely from home. It is a meaningful way to help voters hear directly from the people running for office in their own words.

Why This Work Matters

Voter education is at the heart of everything the League does. When people understand how, when, and why to vote, they participate. When they do not, they stay home. Every conversation at a table, every guide delivered, and every candidate video shared helps close that gap and brings us closer to an electorate that truly reflects our community.

Please also take a moment to remind family, friends, and neighbors that Election Day is coming. A simple reminder can be the difference between a ballot cast and a ballot forgotten.

 

Important Dates to Remember

• September 18: Ballots mailed to military and overseas voters

• September 21: Absentee ballots become available

• October 6: LWV Clackamas voter education tabling at Clackamas Community College, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• October 13: Last day to register to vote in the November General Election

• October 14: Ballots mailed to voters

• November 3: Election Day. Ballots must be returned to an official drop box by 8 p.m. or postmarked by this date if mailed

• December 10: Final election results certified

A big thank you to all volunteers who came out this past weekend to the Oregon City Farmer’s Market to support voter education and registration!

Another big thank you goes out to Teri and Lisa for all of their work on writing ballot measure reports this month to help us better understand the ballot measures in a non-partisan way.  These will all be posted on Vote411.org - be on the lookout!
